Commercialized Photography of ZJP!

While shooting with a few awesome models I gathered up some "nifty" photos LOL. Had a great time, grabbed some great captures and excited to do it again! I don't do alot of magazine type model photography but it's something that I would love to build myself on more and more! Shooting everything under the sun is my aim, and while I enjoy shooting within a studio's bright lights there is no doubt that I am truly a sun chaser til the end of time <3. Please let me know what you think of these pix! Too sleepy to write more so I would rather show instead of blab on and on LOL...

Not Ordinary Train Tracks

     Today my babyboy and I took a walk down to a particular set of train tracks that always gathers my attention! I decided to bring my camera before sunset arrived and YAY I made it!! The alignment of the trains beside eachother and the way they gathered towards the sun meant more to me than just an ordinary pack of steel.
In sharing these photographs with you all, tell me what do you see?

Do you just see trains with a sun shine glare? I see something more...
When I chose to photograph these images I seen a multitude of ppl gathering together, linked to one another. We have pride holding us back from progressing with others or from building stronger relationships with those we love. All of these trains are in their own line yet still connected. It's so important for us to never lose track of those we love bcuz as those train tracks lie empty beside us so we ourselves become empty as well. Let us continue to build ourselves, push ourselves and each other. We are all connected, let's continue to motivate & build with each other. Steady pace wins the race and the race is won together. No need to speed up so fast! Let's also pick up the ones we know and love- linked to and beside us... Let go of your pride in trying to win hog races. The strength of love combined can move mountains! As you can see the sun shines on everyone, no one is better than the other. We all have our own pathways. Some share similarities which link us to one another. We all need each other in some way, shape or form- today, tomorrow or in the future. This world is too small and life is too short. Make the best out of life by enjoying great ppl and sharing knowledge amongst each other instead of trying to always be the leader in the circle bcuz in the end it really doesnt matter. The sun shines on us all anyways, right? :). <3 Love Life, Live life..build together. Push together.

Ms. Menna**

     One of the models I had the opportunity of shooting, and happened to be an awesome Model, is Ms. Menna! Very sweet spirit, photogenic and an awesome lady altogether to work with. It was definitely a pleasure!! We found a nice spot with a small little waterfall that fit just perfect for her shoot! All the other places that we had in mind hadn't been available as we hoped for it to be but this was definitely the perfect touch :).

   This was definitely a great shoot as I flash back on some of my fav photography so far this year :)...

I'M SO EXCITED SO IM GOING TO KEEP MY CAPS ON AS I TYPE ON AND ON LIKE THIS FOR A LITTLE WHILE AHHHHH! LOL!!.
The reason for my excitement is because Zi*Jomei Photography has moved on to another level!! As of next week I will be Opening my new studio - Tuesday August 24th!! I am soo thankful for those who have helped me to accomplish this and am excited to grow my clientele!
     Not only will I focus on Photography but my Love for Art as well! Zi*Jomei will continue to be more of a Freelance/Boutique Photography Business yet with a Studio whenever the client desires. :) I am very excited to share new photographs that are soon to come so please be on the lookout guys! Here is an image I captured of my son the other day and I thought it went along perfectly for how I felt about my studio's arrival!!

Turner Wedding Day!!

     On August 6, 2010 I captured a beautiful wedding for Shaneen and Timothy Turner!! I was so excited to do the photos! This was my first wedding to photograph for the summer and what a great one! Beautiful and Loving family surrounded me! The family was hilarious!! I had a great time and enjoyed immortalizing their moments for future look-backs. Each photo told a strong story and I was honored to be apart of their wonderful day. Here are some of My favorite images of the wedding!

What is Zi*Jomei Photography?

Hi Everybody!! Today I am finally beginning my first day blogging ! Hoping that everyone will enjoy the photos that I will constantly addictive-ly dish out heheee! :) 

     Before sharing my love of Photography and Art let me share a bit about myself and the purpose for my creating Zi*Jomei Photography. I'm Shalisha Porter, a 25 year old chicka with a true and deep love for both Art and Photography. So I have probably been doing Art since I was in my mommy's womb and I love every bit of it!! Photography has always been a hobbie of mine as I collectively captured candid pix of family and friends beginning at the age of 8-9 yrs old. There has been so many friends and family that have slipped away from the living and their existence reminded me of how important it is to capture the love of family and friends enjoying life. 

     A couple of years ago I gave birth to a beautiful boy named Zion Jomei Porter-Lewis! I snapped at least 1,000 pix of him from the day at the hospital room until his reaching 1 month old!! LOL. I couldnt stop snapping photos of his adorable face, his sweet spirit!! As time grew I realized how much I loved being with him and being able to spend as much time as I wanted with him ! Eventually I thought of what would work best for me to stay home as I created a career for myself as spent as much time as I chose with my new baby boy. A few months prior to Zion turning 1 yrs old I decided that photography would and could be the easiest way for me to enjoy my artistic love and also the quietest (since he was such a light sleeper like myself!). Painting with light was my path aka Photography!!! :)

     Since my son had given me the thought of doing photography as a new found career I also chose to name my business after him :) :

*Zion \zion\ is of  Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Zion is "highest point". In the Christian religion, Zion is the name for heaven.

*Jomei \j(o)-mei\ is pronounced joh-may. It is of Japanese origin, and the meaning of Jomei is "spread light".

I think his name fits perfectly for my photography name. Loving my baby boy so much more each and every day and I feel it was the best decision I could have ever made to follow my career path. It is my privilege to capture the spirits of each individual, with love, into my images... 

**Below is an image of my son! I was soo thankful to capture this as Zion hadn't been so excited about bubbles prior to this picture LOL. But this special day that we spent time together he wanted to chase bubbles all day long. This image speaks soo much in soo many ways to me. And I feel this image is the perfect image to represent Zi*Jomei and funny how it actually is Zion Jomei himself chasing bubbles, chasing dreams, reaching far and beyond allowing nothing to hold him back. To all of you as well, please continue to reach above the starz, beyond all teh obstacles that may be trying to hinder you- let nothing stand between you and your dreams for the future. Nothing can hold you back unless you allow it to so follow your dreams big and wide!!! (inspired greatly by Zion)...
